What are the benefits of Insect Based Dog Food?
- The production of insects requires less water, less food, less space compared to livestock and therefore it has a much smaller carbon footprint.
- Rich in high-quality protein
- Insects (black soldier fly larve) are healthier and more nutritious than mainstream sources of meat like beef and chicken.
- A novel source of protein, ideal for dogs with intolerances and allergies.
- It is minimally processed, making it highly nutritious and palatable.
DARF’s Cold Pressed Insect Dog Food is a high-quality, minimally processed, dry food for dogs. 3.2kgs of fresh, raw meat is processed for each kilogram of this food, making it highly nutrient-dense and palatable, even to fussy eaters.
It retains more nutrients than most standard dry kibble, so it will help promote your dog’s wellness and give them all the essential nutrients and minerals they need.
Cold-pressed dog food differs from traditional dry dog food because of how the ingredients are processed. The ingredients in conventional dog food are extruded at high temperatures (around 120 degrees). Consequently, many nutrients are damaged or destroyed and don’t reach your dog’s bowl.
In contrast, when food is Cold Pressed, the raw ingredients are processed gently and at much lower temperatures (around 80 degrees). As a result, the food retains more essential nutrients to support your dog’s health.
Another plus for cold-pressed food is that it doesn’t expand in the dog’s stomach like dry extruded food does – it simply dissolves when it enters the stomach. Because of this, cold-pressed food is much less likely to cause bloat.
